Local Asian Restaurants
Asian Cuisine is an umbrella term used to cover a wide variety of different styles of food from different regions in Asia. Some people may think of Asian food as just food from the Far East: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and a couple of others. However, Asian Cuisine may also include food from South Asia, including India and Pakistan, as well as Central Asia, such Afghan or Iranian food.
East Asian cuisine is perhaps the most commonly known in the United States. Many people frequent Chinese restaurants, but may be surprised to know that authentic Chinese food is rare in the US. Another common sight in many places is sushi, a style of Japanese food that consists of rice with vinegar, usually paired with raw fish or other meat and vegetables. Thai food is also well liked in the West for its spicy character and balance of tastes in each meal.
Indian food is the most popular central Asian cuisine. It is well known for its subtle use of various spices and herbs. It's a wildly diverse cuisine, reflecting the different subcultures of India itself.
Central Asian cuisine is not as commonly known in the west. It commonly features mutton, daily products, and whatever local crops are prominent.
